Back in Oct 2016 I listened to Dr. Insel's talk at a seminar jointly hosted by the Blackdog Institute, UNSW and USYD via podcast All in the mind, about 'Humans and Machines: A quest for better mental health', and in it he also talked about the role of the institute he's working at, Verily , which was previously called Google Life Science, focusing on how technology can assist human society in dealing with mental health issues. I was just reading this about Yahoo! and Flickr yesterday. It got me a little worried...I thought Flickr being one of the top photograph-sharing sites in the world (if not THE top), Yahoo! would give it special attention to make sure it stays on top of games, strategy-wise, resource-wise and news-wise... now it doesn't seemed like that. Today, this news about Yahoo! ditching del.icio.us social bookmark team...I was like...what the f8ck?! I know nothing lasts forever, and if a business unit is under-performing then you need to take a hard-look at it. Then again if this under-performing business unit is of special meaning like being the top and first of the market in doing things, should you do something about it before closing it down? MySpace is now totally kicked by Facebook, but hey they still tries hard right? I just signed up another new email address at live.com.au even though y7mail.com.au was doing real good to me in the past years...Yahoo! got me worried.
